Pianist Alexander Taras De Sina presents a vision of the monumental Sonata in B minor of Franz Liszt as interpreted through the lens of a live ballet performance.

Unfolding around themes of heroism, struggle, and the triumph of good over evil, the narrative invites us to explore the immortal power of love that lives in us all.

The work is paired with the “middle” Sonata in A minor of Schubert, expounding upon the Viennese fascination with the Memento mori.

Narrated through poetic readings, this window into Schubert’s life and death illuminates parallels with the HIV/AIDS crisis of our own time and the ways in which our vision of death opens the door to a new vision of who we are in life.

Born in New York City and influenced by the musical diversity of his hometown, Alexander began studying piano at the age of five. He gave his first concert in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall at seven, followed at fifteen by a tour of Japan, as documented by
NHK Television, and graduating at eighteen from both the LaGuardia High School and the Manhattan School of Music. Mr. De Sina holds dual American and British citizenship. He is of Ukrainian heritage on his mother’s side and Italian on his father’s. He lives between Vienna and London.
