Coming from a country that gave the global music scene its own blend of techno, Slovenian tech-house DJ and a foremost a hotshot producer Mike Vale has a lot to offer. Growing steadily through the noughties he made big leap forward in the international EDM scene with string of Beatport top 100 releases and remixes on labels such as 1605, Great Stuff, Stealth, Toolroom, Starlight and Hotfingers, subsequently gaining support from artists such as Umek, Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Danny Tenaglia, Pleasurekraft, Mark Knight, Riva Starr, Wally Lopez, Pete Tong, Groove Armada and The Shapeshifters. Last year Vale appeared on Umek’s Toolroom Knights compilation, but it was “Pretty Woman”, a single release on Great Stuff accompanied with arty video supported by MTV and BBC Radio 1, that won hearts of many and shot Mike’s name further in the clubland. Endorsed by the Beatport, which included him in the list of most perspective artists in the industry as #3 tech-house hot shot, he continuously demonstrates he’s worthy of the title. After couple of Beatport top 20 tech-house and techno hits such as a remix of Pleasurekraft’s “Anubis” as well as a “Point to Consider” and “How’s Your Body”, collaborations with his EDM heavy-weight pal Umek, his plans for 2012 are even bigger. Couple of tracks from Mike’s vault that you have to look for this season are “Say Yeah”, a new combo with American disco diva Hannah Mancini, another alliance with Umek on Great Stuff titled “Chosen”, remix of Do Santos’ “2coffe” on Hotfingers, remix of Prok & Fitch’s “Symphony” on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records, a brand new EP for 1605, yet untitled collaboration with Pleasurekraft as well as his first official DJ-compilation “Selezione Naturale vol. 1” on Natura Viva. And last but not least: Mike Vale is an all around EDM artist and an excellent deejay that knows how to rock your world at a party.

A BIT DEEPER INSIGHT IN A MUSIC CAREER OF MIKE VALE

RISING UP

Skipping his musical baby steps, it’s fair to acknowledge Mike Vale is recently gaining a strong momentum on the global level as a producer of underground electronic dance music. In the summer of 2010 he released a double single "Global Oriental / Trobezlon” on New York based Nervous Records, a label respected for the releases of house masters such as Armand van Helden, Frankie Knuckles and Laidback Luke to name just a few. After the “Rising Up” (1605), that was included on Umek’s Toolroom Knights compilaton, he remixed Phunk Investigation’s “1980’s” for the 1605 label and notched another successful remix for Aney F & Daniel GreenX’s “Health Spirit” on Starlight Unlimited, which secured him one more Beatport top 100 hit.

PRETTY WOMAN

But it was Mike’s last year’s spring release on Tomcraft’s Munich based Great Stuff Records that he felt it could be his big break. And sure it was! The response to “Pretty Woman” from the club scene was so good that Mike and label decided to promote it further with an arty fashion video that’s been picked up and charted by the MTV. At around the same time Pete Tong played it in his “Ibiza Radio 1 Announcement” part of his weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1, turning it into one of the most desired tunes on the White Isle last summer, which has been played in all party hotspots and appeared on compilations such as “The Face of Ibiza” & “Ibiza Afterhour”. Another big supporter of this release was Marco Carola, who has spun it on the Mixmag stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami as well as at one of the most popular European festivals, Serbian Exit, and he even played a special mash up of this track and his own hit “Play it Loud” in his DJ-sets. But even before the dust around “Pretty Woman” properly settled Vale and Great Stuff jumped together in sack once again. Their next joint venture was a remix of Pleasurekraft’s “Anubis”, a Beatport top 10 tech-house release, that got massive support and was played by all the big names in techno and tech-house scene trough the colder part of the season. The list of Mike’s recent successes wouldn’t be complete without his remix of DJ PP’s “Old Class”, which also stirred a lot of attention on the scene.

BEATPORT’S FAVE PRODUCER

All in all 2011 was a great year for Mike Vale, the best so far, and the watchful ears of Beatport crew have also noticed that: in cooperation with renowned artists and in search of new talents Beatport has released the list of most perspective names in the industry, among which Vale’s name appeared as third in the tech-house list. That was a really nice support to all his recent music endeavors. And at the same time also a great responsibility for his further ones. And Mike’s recent productions furthermore confirm that it was much deserved. After all his tracks are supported and played by top artists such as Umek, Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Danny Tenaglia, Mark Knight, Riva Starr, Pleasurekraft, Pete Tong, The Shapeshifters and Wally Lopez to name at least a few.

HOT RIGHT NOW

And this year promises to be even more prosperous for Mike Vale. After the success of a “Point to Consider EP” which delivered two best selling tracks, a title and “How’s Your Body”, both reaching top 20 on Beatport techno and tech-house chart, he’s has once more crossed arms with his fellow countryman Umek to deliver “Chosen EP” released on Great Stuff just in time to secure them both some proper support during this year’s Ibiza and summer festival season. But Vale’s ambitions for 2012 are much bigger than that. One track that he really counts on is “Say Yeah”, his latest partnership with American disco diva Hannah Mancini, which is going to be released on a big UK based house label later this year. There’re also his new remix of Do Santos’ “2Coffe” on Hotfingers, a remix of Prok & Fitch’s “Symphony” on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records, another EP for 1605, yet untitled collaboration with Pleasurecraft as well as his first DJ-compilation “Selezione Naturale vol. 1” on Natura Viva, coming out in the early summer. And expect that one to be a real treat. After all Mike is not just another big-shot-producer-turned-DJ, rather one of rare nu-bread all around artists with more than a decade of experience under his belt and consequently at least as good a deejay as a producer. So you should really come and check his stuff at one of his forthcoming gigs – especially if he has already won your heart with his own productions and remixes.
